History of Landmark Baptist Church
​
Landmark Baptist Church was founded in September of 1986, with twenty-four charter members. The following year the church called Ronny Harrison to be their pastor, and purchased, remodeled, and moved into their first auditorium at 110 E. Center St. in Galax, Virginia.
​
Since then, the facilities and campus have grown to now include their current 8,000 sq. ft. Auditorium and Sunday School building, a 2,700 sq. ft. open-air tabernacle, and a 4,500 sq. ft. facility which houses Landmark Baptist Academy. In addition, several tracts of adjoining land have been purchased in the heart of downtown Galax to provide ample parking space and room for future building projects.

In March of 1989 Pastor Harrison led the effort to start a bus ministry which has now grown to include a variety of bus routes covering nearly all of the greater Galax and Twin-County region providing transportation to church for between one hundred and two-hundred people each Sunday.
​
A variety of services occur each Sunday including Children’s Church (ages 4-7), Junior Church (grades 3-6), Teen Church (grades 7-12), and a Nursery in addition to the services in the main auditorium. Sunday school classes are provided for all ages on a graded basis (first grade, second grade, etc.) as well as Adult and Nursery classes.

Landmark Baptist Bible College was established in September, 1992 to provide quality training for servants of the Lord desiring to deepen their knowledge of God’s word or obtain special training for teaching or preaching God’s word.

Landmark Baptist Academy, a kindergarten through twelfth grade Christian school was established in 2005 enabling parents to provide quality, Bible-based education for their children without having to compromise the moral standards maintained at home and church.

In the fall of 2006 Brother Chad Harrison became the church’s first Assistant Pastor. His duties include the oversight of the youth and music ministry. Both Pastor Harrison and Brother Chad are determined to maintain high moral and musical standards and resist the modern temptation to compromise old-fashioned music for the contemporary rock n’ roll based music that has become popular in the last days.

Plans are under development for future growth and building projects.

Landmark Baptist Church is an Independent, Fundamental, Bible-believing (King James Version), Baptist Church. Our emphasis is on the fulfillment of Christ’s great commission through personal soul-winning and missionary support throughout the world.
​
The public services revolve around the preaching of the word of God with lively, old-fashioned congregational, choir, and special singing used to accent and prepare the hearts of God’s people for the preaching.
